Translation
maximum design speed
The highest speed a vehicle can reach by its construction, as recorded in the vehicle register or on the registration certificate. It is a property of the vehicle, not of the road: it decides which category the vehicle falls into and which requirements apply. Chapter 5 has separate rules for vehicles with a maximum design speed of not more than 25 km/h (art. 5.2.46), and art. 5.2.47 ties requirements to the value in the register.
