Terms of service

These terms are a translation for information. The contract is concluded in Dutch; the Dutch text is on Algemene voorwaarden.

Who we are

Wegkompas is a trade name. Who is behind it — name, Chamber of Commerce (KvK) number, VAT number, e-mail address and the other details — is shown at the bottom of this page, in the Who we are block.

What Wegkompas is and is not

Wegkompas is a learning platform for the Dutch theory exam. We are not a driving school, we do not administer exams and we give no legal advice. The law itself is on wetten.overheid.nl; our texts explain it and do not replace it.

Wegkompas is an independent initiative. We are not affiliated with the CBR (Centraal Bureau Rijvaardigheidsbewijzen) or any other government body. Our practice questions and mock exams are written by us; they are not official CBR exam questions.

What you get

With a paid access period you get, for as long as the period runs:

• all practice questions, each with an explanation;
• practice by topic and by skill;
• mock exams in the format of the theory exam;
• all lessons;
• the full reference section: road signs, glossary, tables and guides.

Without access you can view part of it for free. What you see on the order page before paying is part of the contract.

Access and duration

We sell one-off access periods: a day, a week or thirty-one days. Every purchase is a single transaction with a fixed end date: nothing runs on and nothing renews automatically. Access simply ends; studying again means deciding again. Because nothing continues tacitly, there is nothing to cancel.

You see the duration and the price (including VAT) before paying and in the confirmation. When the period starts depends on your choice when ordering — see the “Withdrawal” section below.

Language and how the contract is made

This is how the contract is concluded (art. 6:227b(1) Dutch Civil Code, BW):

1. You choose a package and arrive at the order page. It shows what you get, the price including VAT and the duration.
2. You tick that you agree to these terms and the privacy statement. That box is required.
3. A second box is optional: with it you ask us to start straight away (see the “Withdrawal” section below).
4. You press the button «Bestelling met betalingsverplichting» (order with obligation to pay). At that moment the contract is concluded.
5. You pay on the payment page of our payment provider Mollie.

Correcting mistakes. Until you press the button you can check and change everything on the order page: go back to the overview and choose another package, tick or untick a box, or simply leave the page. On Mollie’s payment page you can still cancel the payment. Then nothing is charged, you get no access and the order lapses.

Storage. We keep the contract: the package, the price, the date, the payment status, the exact text of the boxes you saw and the version of these terms (the date at the bottom). After payment we send you a confirmation by e-mail. You can request a copy from us by e-mail. You can save or print these terms at any moment.

Language. The contract is concluded in Dutch. The English, Russian and Ukrainian versions of this page are translations for information.

Codes of conduct. We have not subscribed to any codes of conduct.

Withdrawal

You are buying a service: access to Wegkompas for a fixed period (art. 6:230g(1)(d) BW). You have a fourteen-day cooling-off period, counted from the day after the order (art. 6:230o(1)(a) BW). During that time you can dissolve the contract without giving a reason.

Start now or wait. The order page has an optional box. Its text (Dutch original, then translation):

«Ik verzoek uitdrukkelijk dat de dienst tijdens de bedenktijd begint en verklaar dat ik afstand doe van mijn herroepingsrecht zodra de dienst volledig is uitgevoerd; bij herroeping voor die tijd betaal ik een evenredig deel.»

“I expressly request that the service begins during the cooling-off period and declare that I waive my right of withdrawal once the service has been fully performed; if I withdraw before then, I pay a proportionate amount.”

• With this box ticked your access starts right after payment (art. 6:230v(8) BW). If you withdraw within the cooling-off period and before the access period is over, you pay an amount proportionate to what has already been provided (art. 6:230s(4) BW): the time elapsed divided by the whole duration, times the price. Example: a week costs € 9.99; if you withdraw after two days, you pay 2/7 (€ 2.85) and get € 7.14 back. We round in your favour. Once the period is completely over, the service has been fully performed and the right of withdrawal lapses (art. 6:230p(d) BW). The cooling-off period itself stays fourteen days, even if your access period runs longer.
• Without this box your access starts only after the cooling-off period: at 00:00 (Dutch time) on the fifteenth day after the day you paid. Until then nothing has been provided. If you withdraw within the cooling-off period, you get the full amount back (art. 6:230s(5)(a) BW).

If a period you bought earlier is still running, the new one follows on from it, with or without the box. We then count the proportionate amount from the start of the new period; if it has not started yet, that amount is zero.

How to withdraw. In any of these ways:

• online, via Withdraw from the contract — that link is also in the footer of every page;
• by e-mail to the address in Who we are;
• with the model withdrawal form. It is not required (art. 6:230o(3) BW).

If you withdraw online, we confirm receipt without delay by e-mail, with the content of your statement and the date and time of submission (art. 6:230oa(4) BW). If you withdraw by e-mail or with the form, we confirm receipt by e-mail. We refund within fourteen days of receiving your withdrawal (art. 6:230r(1) BW), using the same means of payment you used (art. 6:230r(2) BW). More explanation is on the Right of withdrawal page.

The service must conform to the contract. That statutory regime also applies to digital content and digital services, and you can rely on it.

What we do not promise

We promise no pass rate and no outcome. Anyone claiming to guarantee that you will pass is promising what nobody can deliver.

Access and misuse

An account is personal and not transferable: only you use it, and you do not pass it on to anyone else. Each account has one active session. If you sign in on another device or in another browser, the previous session ends and you need to sign in there again.

Sharing credentials, automated harvesting of questions and attempts to bypass the paywall lead to termination. If you systematically pass your access on to others, we may block your account and terminate the agreement, without refunding the remaining access period, to the extent the law allows. Your statutory rights, such as the right of withdrawal, still apply.

Intellectual property

What we have made ourselves for Wegkompas — the texts of the questions and explanations, the lessons, the drawings of traffic situations and the images taken from them, the videos, the glossary, the software code and the design — is protected by the Dutch Copyright Act (Auteurswet) and, as a collection, by the Dutch Database Act (Databankenwet). These rights belong to the business behind Wegkompas; who that is is shown in the Who we are block.

A paid access period gives you a personal, non-transferable and non-exclusive right to use the content for your own preparation for the theory exam, for as long as your period runs. You get no other rights: none of the content becomes yours.

You may not:

• copy or download questions, explanations or images in bulk;
• have the content collected automatically by a program or script (scraping);
• publish the content, resell it or pass it on to others;
• use the content to build another product or a dataset, or to train computer models such as AI.

You may copy a reasonable amount into your own notes, for example a rule you want to remember. Anything the law allows everyone without permission, such as quoting (art. 15a lid 1 Auteurswet), remains possible.

The traffic signs themselves and the texts of laws and regulations come from the government; we hold no rights in them. There is no copyright in laws, decrees and regulations (art. 11 Auteurswet), and what the government itself publishes may be shared further unless it has expressly reserved its rights (art. 15b Auteurswet). The source is wetten.overheid.nl.

Breaking these rules is a ground for ending your access as described in the “Access and misuse” section above. Your statutory rights as a consumer still apply.

Complaints

If you have a complaint, send an e-mail to the address in Who we are. Describe what is wrong and, if it concerns a purchase, when you ordered. You get an answer within fourteen days. If we need more time, we tell you within those fourteen days, with the date on which you will get the answer.

We are not affiliated with a disputes committee or any other form of out-of-court dispute resolution. If we cannot resolve it together, you can go to court.

Changes

If we change these terms in a way that disadvantages you, we announce it in advance. A period you have already bought simply runs out under the terms you bought it on.

Governing law

Dutch law. If you are a consumer you keep the protection of the mandatory law of your country of residence.
