de luchtband

LUKHT-bantIPA [ˈlʏxtbɑnt]

mv. luchtbanden

Translation

pneumatic tyre

A tyre containing, in its normal operating condition, gas at a pressure higher than atmospheric (art. 1.1 Regeling voertuigen). This is the ordinary car tyre. Because the load is carried by the air and not by the rubber, tyre pressure is no detail: too soft means more fuel, a longer braking distance and a risk of blow-outs.

How it sounds in the exam
