The direction of rotation marked on the sidewall of a tyre, usually with an arrow. Under art. 5.2.27 the direction marked on the tyre must match the actual direction of rotation of the wheel; the same provision covers the marking of inner and outer side. Fitted the wrong way round, the tread does not clear water as designed, and that costs grip in the rain.
