het wegdek

VEKH-dekIPA [ˈʋɛxdɛk]

mv. wegdekken

Translation

road surface

The top layer you drive on: asphalt, brick paving or concrete. Sign J1 warns of a poor road surface, that is holes, ruts or open joints that make steering and braking less predictable. The surface also carries road markings, and those follow a rank of their own: temporary markings on the road surface prevail over the other markings on the road surface (art. 63a). At road works that means the yellow lines beat the white ones.
