Translation

school crossing patrol

The volunteer — often a parent or older pupil — who lets children cross near a school. The power is narrow but real: drivers must obey the signal to stop laid down in annex 2, part 8, given by crossing patrols authorised for it and recognisable as such (art. 82 paragraph 3). Unlike a traffic controller, such a patrol may give only that one stop signal, and only when standing recognisably in the prescribed kit.
