position light / sidelight

A dim light showing the width of the vehicle. It is meant for standing still, not for driving: a car stopped on the hard shoulder or verge shows position and tail lights at night or in seriously impaired visibility (art. 38). Tail lamps and the number-plate light always burn together with main beam, dipped beam, position light or fog light (art. 32(3)).
