gauge light on a pole

A light at the rear of the vehicle that shows the driver where the vehicle ends (art. 1.1 Regeling voertuigen). It therefore exists for the driver, not for other road users, and helps when reversing or manoeuvring a long vehicle. You may show it together with dipped beam or fog light (art. 41(2)).
