A vehicle mainly intended for carrying the deceased and specially equipped for it; in any event a special-purpose vehicle of category M with body type SD counts as a hearse (art. 1.1 Regeling voertuigen). A lone hearse is ordinary traffic. What receives special treatment on the road is the funeral procession of motor vehicles as a whole, not the hearse by itself.
