berth, stretcher position
The prescribed space for carrying someone lying down: in a coach, or on a stretcher in a car (art. 1, through the Regeling voertuigen). Whoever uses it need not sit on a seat, provided at most one person lies on it (art. 58a), and the belt duty does not apply there; the matching securing device is used instead (art. 59).
