Priority road

What it means

You are on a priority road. Drivers on the intersecting roads must give way to you, at every junction for as long as this sign applies.

What it requires of you

The sign grants you priority but relieves you of no duty of care: you must still be able to stop within the distance you can see, and a traffic light or an instruction overrides it.

Where it stands

At the start of the priority road and repeated after junctions. On the side roads you will find its counterpart B6 or shark's teeth.

How far it applies

Applies until sign B2 or the end of the road.

Who it applies to

bestuurder

Priority applies between drivers; pedestrians fall outside this arrangement.

Do not confuse it with

• B03

  B1 applies to the whole road; B3 warns only about the next junction ahead.
