A vehicle, detachably or permanently attached to the side of a bicycle, moped or motorcycle (art. 1.1 Regeling voertuigen). The sidecar is thus a vehicle of its own beside the machine pulling it, not a third wheel of it. That is why under art. 1 RVV a motorcycle with a sidecar remains a two-wheeled motor vehicle with a sidecar, and not a three-wheeled motor vehicle.
