off-road vehicle

A vehicle of category M or N with specific technical features enabling it to be used off the normal roads (art. 1.1 Regeling voertuigen). It therefore remains an ordinary car or van: the off-road version grants no rights of its own on the road. Which maximum speed and which belt duty apply depends on what the registration document says, not on the four-wheel drive.
