technically permissible maximum mass
The maximum mass set by the manufacturer on the basis of the vehicle’s construction and design performance; for a trailer or semi-trailer it also includes the static mass transferred to the towing vehicle when coupled (art. 1.1 Regeling voertuigen). This is the builder’s limit. The permitted maximum mass on the registration document may be lower, and on the road the lower of the two always applies.
