blood alcohol level
The amount of alcohol in the blood, expressed per mille. The limit is 0.5 per mille; for a novice driver 0.2 per mille. Alcohol leaves the body at roughly one standard drink per hour, and coffee, food or a shower do not speed that up. Exceeding the limit risks a fine, disqualification from driving and an alcohol interlock programme.
