What it means
A wayfinding sign: it points the way to destinations and routes, and neither prohibits nor commands.
What it requires of you
Colour tells you where you are: blue belongs to the motorway, white with blue to ordinary roads, white with red to the cycle network. Recognise the colour and you know which speed regime applies.
