An area beside the motorway with a car park and usually a filling station, toilets and catering. Sign K3 is the decision direction sign towards it, with the name of the parking area and symbols for the facilities. Parking areas and filling stations located along motorways form no part of the motorway (art. 1). This is the place to stop when tired, because you may not stand still on the carriageway of a motorway and the hard shoulder is forbidden save in emergencies (art. 43).
