de parkeerhaven
par-KAYR-hah-vunIPA [pɑrˈkeːrɦaːvən]
mv. parkeerhavens
Translation
lay-by, parking bay
A hardened strip beside the carriageway meant for stationary or parked vehicles; the decree calls it parkeerhaven or parkeerstrook (art. 1). It is not part of the carriageway, yet outside built-up areas you must still show sidelights and tail lights there at night (art. 38). Do not confuse it with the hard shoulder, which is for emergencies, not for parking.
How it sounds in the exam
Je staat bij nacht buiten de bebouwde kom in een parkeerhaven. Welke lichten moeten aan?
